Can you AirDrop from iPhone to Android? No, but there is a solution

Apple users can quickly transfer files between devices via AirDrop, but there is a way to disable AirDrop iPhone to Android? AirDrop debuted on macOS in 2011 and iOS in 2013, and since then it has become the easiest way to share files between Apple devices. This seamless media sharing feature uses a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to quickly transfer files between two nearby devices. The catch, however, is that Airdrop is only available on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Unfortunately, Airdrop doesn’t work with devices outside of the Apple ecosystem. Therefore, users cannot AirDrop anything from an iPhone to an Android phone. In other words, there’s no such thing as AirDrop for Android. However, that doesn’t mean iPhone users can’t wirelessly share a photo, video, or any other file to an Android device. Certain third-party apps, such as AirDroid, use peer-to-peer Wi-Fi networks to wirelessly transfer a file from one phone to another, regardless of the operating system. Although these services are not as fast as AirDrop, they offer the same convenience.

Use AirDroid to transfer files wirelessly

AirDroid allows users to transfer files between two phones connected to the same wireless network. While the app isn’t as seamless as AirDrop, it offers cross-platform compatibility between iOS and Android devices. In addition, it converts HEIC files to JPG before transferring. Users must first install the app on both iPhone and Android phone. It doesn’t matter which email address is used to create an account as long as both phones are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Once done, open AirDroid on iPhone, go to the ‘Near‘ section, and press ‘Tap to search.Enable location services if the app prompts and allow storage access. Tap the name of the Android device to connect. On the next page, click the paper clip icon in the bottom right corner and select “Received files‘ or ‘more files,‘ and tap the desired file. A prompt will appear in the AirDroid app on the Android phone – press ‘To accept. This will send it from the iPhone to the connected Android phone.

Likewise, if users want to share photos or videos, they have to tap the gallery icon in the bottom right corner and tap the items to share. Select the files and tap the ‘To steerbutton in the lower right corner. On the Android phone, users can then view the files through the AirDroid app or in the default file manager app. Third-party cloud storage services such as Google Drive and OneDrive can also be used to transfer files between iPhone and Android, but users must upload them first, unlike AirDroid.
