Apple Music Live returns for its second season on May 11 AEST, with an exclusive performance by global superstar Ed Sheeran at Eventim Apollo in London.
Ed Sheeran will be performing his latest album, – (pronounced “subtract”), in its entirety for the first time, accompanied by a 12-piece band, including Aaron Dessner of The National.
The live performance will debut on Apple Music on Thursday, May 11 at 4am AEST. For the first time, Apple Music Live performances are also available for streaming on Apple TV+. Fans will be able to watch Sheeran’s performance on demand on both Apple Music and Apple TV+ starting May 11 at 6am AEST.
The first season of Apple Music Live kicked off in May 2022 with an exclusive live stream of Harry Styles’ One Night Only in New York, celebrating the release of his album Harry’s House. Other notable performances include Billie Eilish’s Live at the O2, nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Feature; Alicia Keys’ very first Holiday Masquerade Ball; and riveting performances from artists such as Lil Durk, Mary J. Sheeran’s introspective and heartfelt new album, –, is now available to stream on Apple Music. The 14-song album was produced by Aaron Dessner of The National. Sheeran’s Apple Music Live performance will focus on the life events that inspired the album.
In a statement, Sheeran expressed his joy at sharing his Subtract album show, highlighting the emotional nature of the performance and the honor of working with Aaron Dessner and the band.
Apple Music 1 host Matt Wilkinson, who will interview Sheeran on Wednesday, May 10 AEST, described the Apple Music Live show as a unique perspective on how the world-renowned musician deals with deep trauma, delivering an emotional and self-exploring experience.
Ed Sheeran has over 9.5 billion plays and 240 million Shazam tags on Apple Music, making him one of the platform’s top performing artists. His 2017 hit “Shape of You” is Apple Music’s most-streamed song of all time, with over 930 million plays worldwide. Sheeran’s new album, –, holds the record for the most pre-added album on Apple Music, with lead single “Eyes Closed” reaching the daily top 100 in 87 countries.
Fans will be able to watch Sheeran’s performance on demand on both Apple Music and Apple TV+ starting May 11 at 6am AEST.
