Potential illnesses prompt nationwide recall of multiple foods.
Multiple retailers recalled products this week that would require consumers to check their pantries and freezers for the affected items.

Today, with the ability to track all product shipments, manufacturing companies can determine where all possible packages have gone and help reduce risk to the public, even if a product is only suspected of being contaminated.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is working with organizations to reach customers by issuing a recall. In most cases, the companies cooperate with the FDA and also issue recalls. If a company does not work with the FDA, the FDA will issue a forced recall. Recalls have class levels based on the level of risk to the public. A class I recall has the lowest risk, a class II has a medium risk and a class III has the highest risk to the consumer.

FDA disease results
While no illnesses have been reported to the FDA regarding the Clio Strawberry Granola & Greek Yogurt Parfait Bars as of March 15, 2023, the recall came about following routine testing at the manufacturing company where the Clio products are made. Production has been halted until the FDA completes its investigation into the cause of the products’ contamination.
Due to due diligence by the companies involved, protecting the public and warning consumers, this has not led to any illnesses so far. While listeria is usually recoverable, it can be fatal in high-risk consumers such as the very young, elderly, or pregnant women.
On the other hand, the recall for the frozen fruit sold at Costco could still bring disease, as symptoms of hepatitis A can appear up to 50 days after initial exposure. According to the FDA’s website about this recall, anyone suspected of consuming an affected product can receive a hepatitis A vaccine within two weeks of consumption. It is suspected that the contamination came from a Mexican farm, but the investigation is not yet complete, according to the NBC report.
