Gotham knights is about to debut on The CW, but the new series probably won’t join the many DC shows on Netflix. We’ll explore why and where it will stream instead below.
Gotham Knights, developed by Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux, is the new superhero series that follows Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Turner Hayes, and Robin as they search for Batman’s killer.
Oscar Morgan, Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Olivia Rose Keegan and Navia Robinson lead the show’s cast. The flash (which is airing its ninth and final season (and coming to Netflix) and Superman & Lois now in its third season.
The new show debuts on The CW on March 14, 2023, and if you’re looking for a TL;DR for this article – the answer is no, Gotham knights doesn’t currently plan on going to Netflix any time soon.
Why Gotham knights probably not on Netflix
Gotham knightsonce it airs on The CW, it will stream on HBO Max, which has been the case for most shows produced by The CW since 2019, which makes sense since most of them are produced by Warner Bros. Television.
As you may know, Netflix in the United States (and to varying degrees internationally) is still home to many of the Arrowverse shows, all of which aired on The CW and indeed most of the network’s output between 2013 and 2019.
That’s because of an old deal with The CW where all new shows would go to Netflix US after their season finale, and internationally many of the shows were aired by Paramount or Warner Bros. Discovery sold to Netflix.
Internationally, the story is different. Most shows have landed on HBO Max, where that service is available, but in most other regions, shows are often not sold to streamers or, in some cases, not even sold to typical broadcast channels.
Many thought this new strategy would mean that no Warner Bros. television series or DC show would be released. would end up on something other than HBO Max in the future.
However, DC Entertainment continues to partner with Netflix despite their natural home being HBO Max. They still have licenses The flash And Titans to Netflix, plus producing shows exclusive to the service, inclusive The Sandman, sweet tooth, And Detectives of dead boys.
