Netflix has handed out a renewal to Italian teen series Di4ries, which was seemingly filmed in secret and will be released in two halves, with the first coming in September 2023.
As compared to Degrassi Jrthe Italian teen series was released worldwide on Netflix in July 2022. Set in the hallways of Galileo Galilei Middle School, it told us the story of “first crushes, first kisses, and fun with friends.”
Stand By Me is the company behind the show for Netflix and has also worked on titles like The General’s men, Alta infedelta And Love dilemma.
diaries renewed for a second season of 14 episodes in two parts
ComingSoon.it was the first to report this diaries had been renewed while reporting on the fact that I hate Christmas was renewed for a second season. TBI Vision later supported this in March 2023, which extended the extension.
Simon Ercolani, the series’ showrunner, told TBI what to expect from the second season, saying:
“In the second series, the protagonists are slightly older – 13 and 14 years old. The issues and challenges they face are typical of their age group, but we also explore some new themes – bullying, fear and insecurity at that age, and many more .
“One of our main focuses is the relationship between individualism and belonging to a group: in the second series, we take the point of view of more than one character per episode as a way of emphasizing the differences in perceptions between characters.”
15 episodes made up the show’s first season, and Season 2 would consist of 14 more episodes, but split into two halves.
The first half of diaries season 2 will be released in September 2023, while the remaining episodes will be released in March 2024.
As we’ve seen for several Netflix renewals lately diaries didn’t set the global Netflix charts on fire, but did very well in his home country of Italy. FlixPatrol reports that the show spent a total of 37 days there in the top 10 of the TV charts and even longer in the top 10 of the kids, surviving for 72 days and counting. As noted, it takes more than 30 days in the top 10, especially in a show’s home country, to get a renewal job.
The show did not appear in the global top 10, so we have no viewing hours data.
