Split screen is a multitasking feature that allows you to view two apps on your phone at the same time. This allows you to interact with both apps and not just see them on screen.
To use split screen, you must have Android 7.0 or later. It relies on the Recent apps view to get started, so you must have used both apps recently. If you haven’t, you can open one app and then open the other, and then you’re ready to use them in split screen.
Here’s how to use split screen on Android:

Open Recent applications.
- Most newer Androids: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen until your recent apps appear.
- Some older versions: Tap the recent applications icon at the bottom of the screen, usually to the left or right of the home button.
- Some older devices: press the physical one recent applications button on your phone that looks like two overlapping rectangles.
- Samsung Galaxy: Tap the recent applications button next to the home button.

Customize and change apps in Android Split Screen mode
In split screen mode, you can press and drag the dividing line between the apps to adjust the amount of screen allocated to each app. You can also switch the bottom app by opening Recent apps and tapping another app.

How to Exit Android Split Screen Mode
Exiting split screen mode is similar to resizing one of the app windows, and involves dragging the divider bar. When you’re done with split screen mode, tap and hold the divider and drag it all the way to the top or bottom of the screen. Depending on how you drag the line, the top or bottom app opens in full screen and split screen mode ends.
To switch from split screen mode to single app view on Android:

Press and hold distributor line between the apps.

Dragging upwards to keep the bottom app, or down to keep the top app.

Keep dragging until you get to the top or bottom of the screen.

Lift your finger and the phone switches back to the standard single app view.
