Murder mystery 2
Coming to Netflix: March 31st
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston return for a murder mystery comedy sequel.
Per Netflix, here’s what you can expect from the sequel:
“Four years after solving their first murder mystery, Nick and Audrey Spitz are now full-time detectives struggling to get their private detective agency off the ground when they are invited to celebrate their friend the Maharaja’s wedding on his private island. But the Spitzes run into trouble again when the groom is kidnapped for ransom shortly after the festivities begin – making every glamorous guest, every family member, and the bride herself a suspect. “
Coming to Netflix: June 16
Sam Hargrave returns to direct this thrilling action thriller as Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Tyler Rake.
Through my window: over the sea
Coming to Netflix: June 23
This is a sequel to the Spanish-language film that will follow Raquel and Ares as they face challenges in the next chapter of their relationship and individual life.
A third movie for Through my window also planned for the future.
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
Coming to Netflix: 4th quarter 2023
Chicken Run gets a sequel 23 years after the first movie hit theaters. Once again produced by Aardman Animation, the new film will see the return of your favorite characters, most notably with a refreshed voice cast.
Netflix has no exact release date for it Chicken coop 2 but November 11 is mentioned on several websites, but we have not been able to confirm it. Still, Aardman took part in an interview stating that the film would be released in Q4.

Beverly Hills agent: Axel Foley
Expected release in 2024
Will be the fourth film in Paramount Pictures’ Beverly Hill Cop franchise, Beverly Hills agent: Axel Foley coming exclusively to Netflix in 2024.
Eddie Murphy returns to play Axel Foley, starring alongside several other big names, including Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Judge Reinhold.
Code 8: Part II
Jeff Chan returns to direct a sequel to the sci-fi movie starring Stephen Amell and Robbie Amell.
Production on the sequel has finished filming and it’s unclear when part 2 will hit Netflix, but we’re expecting it to be 2023 or 2024 at the latest.
Knives out 3
Netflix picked up Knives out for two additional films following the release of the first by Lionsgate in 2019.
Not much is known about the third film, except that Rian Johnson will write and direct and Daniel Craig will once again return as Benoit Blanc.
Rebel Moon: Part II
Netflix has a lot of faith in Zack Snyder. Rebel Moon is the big new sci-fi fantasy movie set to make its first screen debut in December 2023. A sequel has already been greenlit prior to this release (and, according to sources – may even expand to other spin-offs) and will be out in the coming years.
Here’s an outline of the plot for the first movie:
“When a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Balisarius, they send a young woman with a mysterious past named Kora to find warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand. ”
Red notice 2 & 3
Red Notice still holds the honor of being Netflix’s most-watched movie within its first 28 days of release and was greenlit for two more movies shortly after its release in late 2021.
Sadly, news about the sequels has been quiet since the initial announcement, but at one point, both movies were expected to be shot back-to-back in 2023.
The gray man 2
Now the fifth biggest Netflix movie of all time, The gray man will be continued soon.
So far, Joe Russo has said the following about the sequel:
“The sequel will be inspired by Mark Greaney’s novel. Translating from one medium to another often requires interpretation, but we have an incredible amount of source material from a great range. We draw on that for the sequel.”
No word on when production on the sequel or spin-off movie, which was also announced, will start, but we do know that Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will pen the spin-off script.
The old guard 2
Victoria Mahoney is directing the action fantasy movie sequel Charlize Theron which will adapt the Force Multiplied comic.
Filming on the movie took place in Italy and the UK in 2022 and was completed by the end of the year.
Notably, the film was not included in the 2023 movie list, so it could not be released until 2024.
The sea animal 2
The sea beast has become one of Netflix’s most popular animated films and Chris Williams is returning to direct a sequel to be announced in late 2022.
The first film, released in the summer of 2022, told the story of a young girl who stowed away on a ship and traveled to uncharted waters after teaming up with the infamous Jacob Holland.
Other Netflix movie sequels announced
In the interest of time, here are a few other movies that have been announced to have a sequel at some point, but have limited information and it’s unclear if they’re still moving forward.
- Army of the Dead 2 – Shortly after the debut of the first film, a sequel to the Zack Snyder zombie film Army of the Dead was ordered, but it is unclear where it is in development.
- bright 2 – A sequel to the Will Smith movie was in development, but has reportedly been cancelled.
- Obituary 2 – With The Duffer Brothers working on a Death Note series, it’s unclear if the Death Note sequel will ever come to fruition.
- Spencer Confidential 2 – Following the release of 2020’s Spenser Confidential, a sequel was announced, but it’s unclear where it’s in development.
- Continued We can be heroes – A sequel to Robert Rodriguez’ spin-off Spy Kids has been announced, but unclear where it’s in development.
- Yes Day 2 – A sequel to the Jennifer Garner movie was announced in July 2021, but no news has surfaced since then.
