Marsha Stephanie Blake, John Ortiz Join Netflix Series – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Marsha Stephanie Blake (If they see us), Gabriella Graham (Twenties), John Ortiz (Promised land) and Tamsin Topolski (slow horses) have been cast opposite Colman Domingo in Netflix’s The craziness limited series. The conspiracy thriller comes from Chernin Entertainment through its first-look deal with Netflix creator and co-showrunner Stephen Belber (OG, the Laramie Project) and co-showrunner VJ Boyd (Justified, SWAT)

In the craziness, media expert Muncie Daniels (Domingo) must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the woods of Poconos. As the walls close in, Muncie tries to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive.

Blake plays Elena Daniels, the mother of Muncie’s 15-year-old son.

Graham portrays Kallie, Muncie’s adult daughter.

Ortiz plays Franco Quinones, an experienced FBI agent with strong convictions and a ruthless approach to his job.

Topolski portrays Lucie Snipes, a woman at a crossroads in her life who must choose between right and wrong.

Belber and Boyd co-produce with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kaitlin Dahill for Chernin Entertainment (The North Road Company). Clement Virgo (Green leaf) will direct and produce the first two and last two episodes. Quien Tran (Domestic help) and Jessica Lowrey (Perry Mason) will each direct two middle episodes.

Blake received both Emmy and Critics Choice nominations for her role as Linda McCray in Ava Duvernay’s acclaimed Netflix miniseries. If they see us. She was recently seen indoors The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray limited series for Apple TV+, starring Sam Jackson, and recurring in Random acts of flight. She is represented by Anonymous Content and Goodman Genow Schenkman.

Ortiz played the role of Joe Sandoval in drama series promised land, which aired on ABC for one season. On the movie side, he recently wrapped up filming The mothership opposite Halle Berry. He is currently filming a major recurring role in Apple’s Bad monkey opposite Vince Vaughn. Ortiz is represented by Gersh, Principal Entertainment LA and Schreck Rose Dapello.

Graham last starred in Lena Waithe’s BET series Twenties and Sundance 2020 movie Possessor by Brandon Cronenberg. She will next be seen starring in sci-fi comedy Calm down, I’m from the future with Rhys Darby. She is represented by A3 Artists Agency and Thruline Entertainment.

Topolski is in post-production on Nicholas Tomnoy’s thriller What you wish For. Her other credits include Apple Slow horses, Atlanta And the tower, among other things. She is represented by Independent Talent Group and Mosaic.
