Bethesda’s Starfield has been pushed back to its September 6 launch date

Bethesda’s highly anticipated space exploration game Star field is now out on September 6, the publisher announced Wednesday morning in a new trailer video.

The latest release date for the game comes after the earlier promise of a November 11, 2022 release was finally pushed back to an amorphous “first half of 2023” window. Star fieldDevelopment of ‘s was first announced in 2018, but we had to wait until last June before we finally saw our first bit of “No Man’s Skyrim” style gameplay.

The new launch date announcement trailer alternates shots of space stations and huge castle-like spires on barren planets. An unseen narrator talks about “another one of those great anomalies” and encourages the player to “discover the source of it all”.

It all ends with a little extreme 2001: A space odyssey-like shots of an astronaut floating amidst a series of giant, spinning circular rings in the vastness of space. More details will be revealed in a “Star field Direct” video presentation on June 11, says Bethesda.

“We know you’ve been waiting a long time to play something new from us,” Star field says director Todd Howard in the announcement video. “Believe it or not, we’re more or less the same. We miss it.”

Howard further promises a game that “will have many of the features you’ve come to expect from us, but it’s also a very unique experience… We’ve thrown ourselves into this game, and even I’m amazed at how much we can pour. It is big.”

Star field will be one of the first Microsoft-published games to be offered for a suggested retail price of $70, a price that Microsoft says “reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles.” The game will also be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on launch day.

Star field will also be an Xbox and PC exclusive, a move that caused Bethesda VP Pete Hines to apologize to PS5 owners in 2021. And the exclusivity comes even as Microsoft promises big franchises like Duty will not be a Microsoft-exclusive platform if and when the company’s proposed purchase of Activision is completed.

Star field‘s release will now come months later redfall, Bethesda’s supernatural shooter that has been in development for a long time and has also been delayed. That title is now slated for a May 2 release on Xbox and PC following a previous target of “summer 2022”.
