The family of Brian Sicknick, the Capitol police officer who died the day after he was attacked by pro-Trump rioters during the Jan. 6 attack, has issued a damning charge against Fox News and host Tucker Carlson after the incendiary anchor released video footage sent out doubting Sicknick’s condition after his attack.
“The Sicknick family is outraged by the continued attack on our family by the unscrupulous and downright filthy so-called ‘news network’ Fox News, which will carry out the orders of Trump or any of his sycophantic followers regardless of the harm done to the families of the fallen, the officers who risked their lives, and everyone who suffered on Jan. 6 from Trump’s take-off and proliferation through filthy lurching outlets like Fox,” the family said in a statement.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also derided Mr. Carlson’s broadcast of the January 6 tapes, calling it “one of the most embarrassing hours of television.”
Mr. Carlson, who consistently attacked the House-led investigation into the riot, is trying to help Republicans reframe the day’s events as a peaceful protest weaponized by Democrats. He was given exclusive access to security footage of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
US Capitol Police Chief: ‘TV commentary will not record the truth for our history books. The legal system will
Full text of Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger’s internal memo:
Last night, an op-ed broadcast commentary full of offensive and misleading conclusions about the January 6 attack. The opinion program never contacted the department to provide proper context.
A false accusation is that our agents helped the rioters and acted as ‘tour guides’. This is outrageous and incorrect. The department assists the officers in the video shown last night. I don’t need to remind you how outnumbered our agents were on January 6. Those officers did their best to use de-escalation tactics to try and talk to rioters to get each other to leave the building.
The program is handily plucked from the quieter moments of our 41,000 hours of video. The commentary provides no context about the chaos and violence that occurred before or during these less tense moments.
Finally, last night’s most disturbing allegation was that the death of our late friend and colleague Brian Sicknick had nothing to do with his heroic actions on January 6. hours on the day he was violently assaulted, Officer Sicknick would not have died the next day.
Like some people choosing from 41,000 hours of video clips that seemingly support the story they want to tell, those of you who were here on January 6th, those of you who fought, those of you who made sure not a single member of Congress got hurt, those of you who contributed to the effort to keep the country’s legislative process going know firsthand what actually happened.
You fought hard on January 6 and risked your life to protect the Constitution and all that this country stands for. You, along with our law enforcement partners, saved every congressman and their staff.
TV commentary will not record the truth for our history books. The legal system will. The truth and justice are on our side.

I’ll save you time. The number is as bad as you’d expect.

Full story: Tucker Carlson downplays January 6 violence with Fox News segment falsely depicting ‘peaceful’ rioting
Fox News personality Tucker Carlson aired surveillance footage of the attack on the U.S. Capitol that was provided to him exclusively by a leading congressional Republican to falsely portray the January 6, 2021 riots as a peaceful gathering.
