Three major ‘Destiny 2’ bugs are cause for concern ahead of Root Of Nightmares Raid Race

Destiny 2 is about to launch its latest raid in just four days, this Friday, March 10. Root of nightmaresit’s set in a Pyramid ship destroyed by travelers and if you’ve played the Lightfall campaign you can already guess who the raid boss will be.

The problem, however, is that Destiny 2 is already dealing with some pretty serious bugs launched with Lightfall, which may not be fixable Friday, and could affect the raid race beyond the usual server issues the game has had during that high. traffic periods. Here’s what’s going on:

The player invisibility bug – This is easily the worst bug, where players can get stuck in a situation where they are almost completely invisible. In PvP, this could mean entire enemy teams, but if this happens to you, you won’t be able to see your gun or gun cross, making play impossible. And right now the only real solution to this seems to be to completely restart your game, which you don’t want to do while racing for the world’s first raid clear. Bungie has acknowledged the glitch, but we don’t have a timeline for a fix yet.

The Mods bug – There is another bug where certain mods like ammo caches, finders and reload mods don’t work after you die and respawn, and you have to reapply them each time to get them working again. In a raid situation where you’re dying and coming back to life all the time, this is a problem, and I’m not even sure we know the full extent of which mods are affected and when.

The Framerate Damage bug – This is something that isn’t new to Lightfall, but could still factor into the raid race, as it was never resolved. Destiny 2 has a lot of extremely weird things happening to players gaming at a high frame rate. In this expansion, Cabal Thresher ships will shoot you down all at once with missiles that for some reason have massively increased damage due to the frame rate. I believe this also applies to Cabal Interceptors. And given that most of the signs point to this being a Cabal attack with the Shadow Legion, we can see a lot of those enemies and a lot of those one-time kills in the raid race. Framerate also affects weird things like gravity lifts in the pyramids that drop you into the abyss instead of getting you where you need to go. These glitches aren’t just associated with ultra-high performance PCs, and can even happen if you’re gaming at 60fps on PS5 or Xbox Series X. In many parts of the campaign, I locked my fps at 30 to avoid these issues .

And all of this, of course, coupled with any server problems or error codes that the actual raid race may produce. Last year’s Vow of the Disciple raid race was kind of a mess as so many players got kicked out, and it’s unclear if even the final result can be changed as so many teams got bogged down early on due to the bugs. Hopefully that won’t happen this year, but on top of that we have all these other issues that we have to contend with. I hope to see a hotfix this week to address at least some of these, especially the invisibility bug which is arguably the worst of them all. Stay tuned for updates.
