New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Game theorized by Pro Player

A remarkable one Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pro player has theorized that Nintendo could release a new version of the popular fighting game sometime in the future. At this point, it looks like Nintendo is pretty content putting the Super Smash Bros. franchise on ice. Not only Smash Ultimate features every character to ever appear in the series, but the franchise’s longtime director, Masahiro Sakurai, has also indicated that the latest entry will likely be his last. And while we may not be getting an all-new Smash installment just yet, one notable name associated with the property thinks Nintendo will still be keeping it alive for years to come.

According to longtime professional Super Smash Bros. player Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma, Nintendo will try to re-release Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the coming years for new Switch hardware. Hungrybox cited Nintendo’s willingness to continually port games released in recent years to Switch, saying he believes the company will try to release a “Deluxe” version of Smash Ultimate that will be similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

“The next Smash game will be announced in 2025. It won’t be smash 6it will be Ultimate luxury with all characters [and] stages unlocked, as well as 10 new characters and 15 new stages included,” Hungrybox said in a recent post on Twitter. “It will be released for a ‘Switch Pro’ style console, possibly in 4K. Quote me. […] Literally look at the economics of the game that Nintendo started with mario kart 8. They have been repurposing and repackaging the same game since 2014 and making millions to this day.”

Obviously, above all, it’s worth emphasizing that this is just a Hungrybox theory and not something guaranteed to happen in the slightest. Still, this hypothesis definitely lines up with how Nintendo has worked over the course of the past decade and would make a lot of sense on paper. Whether this idea will hit the road remains to be seen, but chances are many Switch owners will want to buy Smash Ultimate again when a new version arrives.

Do you think Nintendo will try to re-release Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sometime in the future on new Switch hardware? And if so, would you like to buy this updated and improved version of the game? Let me know in the comments or reach out to me on Twitter at @MooreMan12.
