Joining the club a lot faster than the Pixel 7 did
Sometimes when it rains, it pours, which is pretty much exactly what’s going on right now, as long as you replace “rain” with “Google is coming to update its formal list of devices that support the ARCore development platform.” It’s been less than 24 hours since we saw Google make a pretty substantial refresh of that roster, adding big 2022 phones like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a. Today it’s already back with more, with a number of Samsung Galaxy handsets.
Just as we discussed yesterday, this record is quite a bit behind the actual availability of phones that support Augmented Reality apps, and while it’s of little consequence if a phone takes its sweet time to get here, who wouldn’t feel a feel a little better about seeing all the latest flagships present and responsible?
We thought of that last month when Google updated the list to shove in some Samsung phones and tablets, but that also felt a little teasing with the S23 just landing at the time – who knew how long it would be before did we ever see those make it onto the ARCore list? Well, today we have our answer: just about a month. Here’s the complete set of Samsung Android hardware receiving Google certification today:
- Samsung Galaxy A14 5G
- Samsung Galaxy A23 5G
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4
- Samsung Galaxy S23
- Samsung Galaxy S23+
- Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro 5G
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4

Samsung Galaxy S23
The Galaxy S23 offers the best Samsung has – from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset to a top-notch camera system led by an impressive 50MP sensor – just the right size with a vibrant and “portable” 6.1-inch display . The phone also brings a bigger battery than the S22’s, plus five years of industry-leading monthly security updates. That’s all for the same price as last year.

Samsung Galaxy S23+
The Galaxy S23+ is built to deliver a premium Android experience in 2023 for those who like to live just a little bigger. The 6.6-inch AMOLED display runs smoothly, the 45W wired charging should allow for longer days with shorter breaks plugged in, and there’s more room to run around with too, thanks to the 256GB and 512GB options . Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it’s about as much phone as you can get for that $1,000.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
If you’re looking for the best of the best of Android in 2023, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is it. It’s the only one in the S23 range to feature the company’s flagship 200MP ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor, the only one with a 5,000mAh battery, and the only one to push the storage envelope to 1TB. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy should run quickly and easily, and everything on that 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display (the only one in the series with adaptive refresh rates between 1 and 120 Hz) should look smooth and beautiful. have to look. And who can forget all the note-taking features and added convenience that the S Pen brings? This is Samsung’s best effort for the Galaxy S nameplate.
