The William Woods University women’s soccer team placed six on the U.S. Midwest Conference all-conference teams. Sydney Balducci, Lauren Helmert and Abby Wilson earned a spot in the all-AMC first team, and Cindy Gonzalez, Michyla Handley and Sam Poehlmann earned a spot in the all-AMC honorable mention.
Mackenzie Boyle was named after the character team champion.
Forward Balducci earned a spot in the first team after leading the Owls in goals and points. She started in all 18 games and scored 13 goals, with three as game winners. She also had an assist for 27 points on the season.
Midfielder Helmert earned a spot in the first team after starting all 18 games. She leads the Owls in assists with five and is second on the team in points (15) and goals (five). She went 2-for-2 on penalties this season and scored the winning goal against Health Sciences and Pharmacy.
Defender Wilson earned a first-team spot after holding the backline in all 18 games. She helped keep opponents to just 30 goals this season. She also scored a goal and assisted one for three points.
Striker Gonzalez received an honorable mention after playing in 16 games. She has nine points, scored three goals with two as game winners and assisted on three goals.
Goalkeeper Handley received an honorable mention after starting in the goal in 12 games and spending 954 minutes between the posts. She has a 5-4-1 record with 72 saves, three shutouts and eight complete games.
Midfielder Poehlmann received an honorable mention and started in 15 of her 18 games. She is third on the team with 11 points and has scored four goals this season with a game winner and three assists.
