COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – As the holiday season approaches, Jacob’s Heart is collecting toys and other gifts for children in the Valley.
Nicci Eells and her family started a children’s toy campaign at Akron Children’s Hospital in the Mahoning Valley. The event was created in honor of their son Jacob, who was born with half his heart and died when he was just over three months old.
All items will be donated to children the week before Christmas at Akron Children’s Hospital in Mahoning Valley.
Some of the things they need are toys, crayons, pyjamas, coloring supplies, and books.
A fundraiser is scheduled for December 8 at Birdfish Brewery in Columbiana. There will be live bands performing and Jacob’s Heart is asking for a toy donation to attend the concert.
Eells says they want to influence as many children as possible.
“To see the kids out there smiling and seeing their visit to something good instead of something bad, that makes us happy, and making children happy is a great feeling,” she said.
