Qatar Balloon Festival is held in January

Doha: The third edition of Qatar Balloon Festival (QBF) will take place from January 19 to 28 next year, organizers told The Peninsula.

The event, which normally takes place in December, has been postponed to January due to this year’s World Cup.

The ten-day event will feature more than 50 balloons, compared to 40 last year. The participants for the third edition come from all over the world. In two months, hot air balloons will cover the sky of Qatar with bright colors and fun designs. The public can enjoy live music, entertainment and a variety of international cuisines while enjoying the spectacular view of the balloons, especially at night.

There is no confirmed location for the event yet, but it will be held in Aspire Park for the past two years.

Activities during the ten day event include: Sunrise Balloon launch, Tethered flights, nightglow, dance and music performances where an array of artists, music bands, DJs and singers will dazzle the crowd.

There is also a special arena with all kinds of games for everyone, including carnival games, team games, human soccer, soccer darts, virtual reality games, electronic games, themed bouncy houses and slides.

Food kiosks and trucks will also be available.

For those who want to try a balloon ride, tickets for the flights can be purchased at the booth of QBF booth partner in Doha Festival City. The ride takes 30 to 45 minutes. The minimum age to participate is eight years and passengers under the age of 16 are only flown when accompanied by an adult. Price for a balloon flight is QR299.

The pilot and balloon registration is also open online.

The timing of the festival is from 4pm to 10pm. During the festival, the mass launch of hot air balloons will take place every morning at sunrise.
