OC slaps pharmacy worker for holding the door open to PM movement

The chief officer of the Mohammadpur Police Station, Abul Kalam Azad, struck a drugstore employee in the Mohammadpur area of the capital for holding the shutter partially open just before the prime minister’s move to the area on Nov. 2.

Riaz Mahmud, owner of Leed Pharma, said police came to his pharmacy and beat his employee Mozammel for failing to keep the shutter of the pharmacy completely closed.

He said the incident happened at about 1:45 PM on Nov. 2, and he found out on Saturday when he visited the shop on Mirpur Road near Asad Gate.

Riaz said his employee closed one shutter and kept another partially closed because it still had a glass door.

But the police officer came before the prime minister’s move and started beating him, he added.

OC Kalam said he had asked the employee to keep the shutter closed prior to the PM move, but he did not listen to his words.

The OC also said that the employee had an altercation and that he beat the employee.
