MoPH Honors Contributors to Accreditation of Public Health Services in Qatar

The Ministry of Health (MoPH) held an awards ceremony honoring participants in the accreditation of public health services in Qatar.
THE MOPH is accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), USA. The award ceremony was organized under the sponsorship of the MoPH and led by Dr. Salih al-Marri, Assistant Minister of Health and Chairman of the Health Commission.
Qatar is the first country in the region to receive such accreditation outside the United States. This accreditation is confirmation that public health principles and guidelines are being implemented in Qatar according to the best international standards.
Sheikh Dr. Mohamed al-Thani, director of the MoPH Public Health Department, stated: “Success requires a lot of hard work and support. We have used both to gain accreditation for our public health services in Qatar and finally the MoPH has been accredited for five years by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), USA. Our commitment to becoming accredited does not end with the Board’s decision on August 18, 2022. It is for the long term. We are committed to making the accreditation requirements an integral part of our day-to-day work.”
“In its approach to public health, the MoPH relies on a common vision with all key partners from the health and non-health sectors to ensure health and wellness for all of us in all the communities where we and our children are born and live, where we grow up, play, learn and study, work and have access to transport and healthcare. Therefore, the MoPH uses interventions to prevent disease, protect and promote health, such as health education to help individuals protect their own health and the health of their families,” added Sheikh Dr. Mohamed.
dr. Mariam Alabdulmalik, General Manager of Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), who joined online, said: “It is a source of pride for Primary Health Care Corporation to be part of the team supporting the MoPH to support the PHAB international accreditation of public health services in Qatar. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to work closely across the health sector to deliver quality healthcare services in Qatar. It is a demonstration of the national initiative to improve the quality of care and process in healthcare in Qatar and a testament to the patient-centred approach that our services support.”
dr. Mounir Soussi, the Accreditation Coordinator, added: “Since the beginning of our accreditation journey, the process has improved public health preparedness in Qatar, especially as we prepare for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, by building and enhancing capabilities . and the overall capability of the MoPH, improving quality efforts, using evidence and data to make decisions, and increasing credibility with all stakeholders.”
