SRINAGAR: Continuing the efforts to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Saturday inaugurated two health and wellness centers (H&WCs) in SDH Hazratbal and UPHC Nishat under the banner and the “Zindi-Paii” brand to integrate Wellness and Health Services under one umbrella.
HOD Community Medicine GMC Srinagar, Dr. S. Muhammad Salim Khan, Block Medical Officer Hazratbal, Dr. Fara Shafi and others involved accompanied the DC Srinagar during the visit.
After the opening of the facilities, the DC said that the Srinagar district administration has been paying focused attention to the health care system and that every possible measure is being taken to further upgrade and strengthen the health care system across the district.
Regarding the recently opened health and wellness centers, the DC said that usually people who are sick visit health centers and hospitals to be treated, the “Zindi-Paie” model envisions the concept of a healthy lifestyle that includes physical, mental, includes psychosocial, behavioural, emotional and spiritual dimensions of well-being for people to stay healthy and lead socially productive lives.
On the occasions, the DC urged people to take advantage of the facilities in these wellness centers, including preventive, stimulant and curative services and to integrate allopathic, AYUSH and naturopathic systems for a holistic approach to the health and well-being of a person and community.
The DC asked the concerned authorities to keep these wellness centers functional on Sundays as well, as people from different walks of life can take advantage of these services who are otherwise busy with their work during weekdays.
The DC said one of the goals of establishing H&WCs is to promote social connectivity and the well-being and well-being of the people in the district. He ordered the health officials to work in a mission mode for the effective and efficient functioning of the centers to serve their purpose for the greater good of the people. He also emphasized giving focused attention to vulnerable groups, including socially and marginalized weaker sections of society.
Meanwhile, the locals of Nishat and Hazratbal areas have praised the initiative of the Srinagar administration and hoped that people who visit these wellness centers will benefit from it.
