ALMERIA CITY now offers courses in Catering and Tourism at the province’s first specialized school.

Patricia del Pozo, head of the Junta’s Education Department, recently visited the Almeraya Vocational Training Center (CPIFP) where students take specialist courses that prepare them for future careers in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

The Almeraya School, the only one of its kind in the province of Almeria, is one of eight comparable centers in Andulucia.

“This center offers specific quality training that will undoubtedly have an impact on job creation while addressing the needs of one of the province’s most dynamic sectors,” said Del Pozo,

“It also means that our young people can get opportunities here and not have to study.”

The center of Almeraya, with 619 students and a staff of 69 teachers, offers intermediates in cooking and gastronomy, as well as bakery, pastry and confectionery and catering services. There are also higher diploma courses in Kitchen Management and Food Service Management.

Higher degrees in tourism include tourist guide, tourist information and assistance, travel agencies, event management, and tourist accommodation management.
