“We have to develop football psychology, with stamina, football feeling and techniques in the young,” he said.
Malhotra was part of India’s winning squad in the LG Cup 2002. Apart from representing the national team, Malhotra has also played for some of the top clubs like Mahindra United, East Bengal and ONGC. After hanging up his shoes, Malhotra got involved in grassroots level football development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking about the local talent and potential, he said: “During my time at J&K I played most of my football in Kashmir. I still get a lot of love from the fellow players who have played with me and from those who have seen me play here” said the former India player.
He said he gets invitations every day from Kashmir to meet and interact with players. He was also grateful to Kashmir’s I-League aspiring club, Downtown Heroes FC, who recently honored him.
