Ivermectin ruling: Courts can’t force health care providers to go against standards of care

A Supreme Court panel ruled that a court wrongly ordered a hospital to administer ivermectin to a COVID-19 patient against the advice of its treating doctors.

In Thursday’s opinion, senior judge Correale Stevens said courts do not have the power to compel health care providers such as defendant UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals to perform treatments that are contrary to their professional judgment.
