If you, or your family, need health care coverage, UConn Health wants to let you know that you may be eligible for a new Connecticut state-created health program called The Covered Connecticut Program, at no cost to you.

The Covered CT program, administered by the Department of Social Services, provides free health care coverage, including dental care and non-emergency medical transportation benefits, to eligible adults and families within a certain income range.

If you are eligible to pay $0 for your health insurance, the state of Connecticut will pay your monthly payments (premium) directly to your insurance company (either through Anthem, ConnectiCare Benefits, Inc. or ConnectiCare Insurance Company Inc., Silver-level plans) and all your cost-sharing amounts that you would normally pay with health insurance (deductible, copays, coinsurance, and maximum out-of-pocket costs).

To qualify, your annual household income must fall within a certain range of the federal poverty level, based on the number of people in your household.

Eligible Connecticut residents must:

  • Have a household income up to 175% of the federal poverty level (FPL) and are not eligible for HUSKY Health/Medicaid because of income.
  • Qualify for financial aid, including Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTCs) and Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSRs).
  • Use 100% of the financial aid available to you.
  • Be enrolled in a Silver level health insurance plan (Anthem, ConnectiCare Benefits, Inc. or ConnectiCare Insurance Company Inc.)
