WASHINGTON – Following the announcement of funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities, the chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, issued the following statement:

“Today’s announcement is a huge step forward in providing more of the tools our farmers and rural communities need to tackle the climate crisis while remaining profitable,” said President Stabenow. “From climate-smart agriculture and forestry to bio-based products and renewable fuels, these public-private partnerships create high-paying jobs and also improve our environmental footprint on and off the farm. By combining federal investment with innovation at the local level, USDA amplifies the exciting work so many partners are already doing on the ground.”
